The Masque of the Red Death
Today I treated myself.
No writing.
Well, what I mean is no creative writing as yet. There’s still four hours of today left, and after teasing the blog out I might be inspired. It’s my first day off in as long as I remember. Not that a writer ever truly stops.
I read Poe, his short: ‘The Masque of the Red Death’. Made notes for my own edits and loved it; the simplicity, brevity, an inevitability to Prospero’s failure to escape the horror of life. There is nothing, no act any at the party might aspire to, quite so depraved as the inevitability of life...
Death does always catch you out.
A moment is all it takes.
The bell tolls and the music stops.
Sleep tight.
Highly recommend; an easy read, but give it space and thought, check out his life and draw your own conclusions. As a short story, 5 out of 5 stars from me.
If there's a topic you'd like me to consider in a blog, a book you think I really need to read and review, or a TV Series you think I'd enjoy (and you'd like me to include it in my blog) drop me a line and let me know.
Finally. If you do buy my books. Thank you.
And let me know what you think. Get in touch on Twitter. I'm always there; a writer, you see...
